Envato Community Podcast Episode 14 is out now!

If you want to keep up with the latest and greatest in the world of audio, NAMM’s the place to go. NAMM 2012 has just finished, and I got to experience it through the tweets of Audiotuts+ authors Björgvin Benediktsson and Ryan Leach, who were both there.

Featured Artist: Eric Vasquez

Today we feature the work of Eric Vasquez. You may recognize some of Eric’s work as he is one of our most popular tutorial authors. What you may not know is that asides from writing for PSDFAN, Eric runs his own personal design business, and has built up an incredibly portfolio of work.

Eric’s work often uses amazing lighting techniques, and subtle coloring that gives his compositions a really professional gloss. His attention to detail is truly inspiring, and he often works with mixed media techniques to really give a sense of depth and variety to his work. Eric has been featured in Advanced Photoshop Magazine and has also participated in two art exhibits including The Art Of Fashion Show at Webster Hall, NYC in 2010.

Eric is also an active member of the design community, and I’m sure would be happy to network with you guys if you have any questions or feedback for him.

Creating an Icon

Google Calendar is one of many apps that runs on the Internet, not on your desktop. I’ll show you how to make your very own desktop icon for Google Calendar and, hopefully, the skills behind creating other similar icons. I hope you enjoy the experience!

There’s no denying that the Internet is going to be a big part of our future of computing. Running applications in the cloud have already become popular, with services such as Google Apps, which we also offer to our clients. Whether you use Google Mail and Google Calendar to help to manage productivity, or social lifestyling apps like Twitter and Facebook, there’s probably a web-based application or two running on your computer throughout the day.

When it comes to animation, nothing beats Flash. Flash has an arsenal of powerful tools that help to make animations easily. If you have done some animation in flash then you know that frame by frame animation gets a little hectic sometimes. There is tweening ;  but it is only helpful when the change in position of a body is in the same direction. If you want your object to follow a specific path which is not in one direction then that’s where guide layers come in. Guide layers are exactly what their name suggests, they guide the object to maintain their path of motion. In this tutorial I am going to show you how to use guide layers. You have to know the basics of animation in Flash before you can take this tutorial, If you want to start on that then please see my previous tutorial about animation.
