Five Years of Envato
It’s kinda crazy to think, but our little internet startup, Envato, has been on the air now for five years. We started back in 2006 as four very enthusiastic and totally green entrepreneurs with a shoestring budget and a love of the web. Fast forward five years and while we’re hopefully a little less green, we’re still incredibly passionate about Education, Marketplaces and the web! It’s been an amazing time and we’d like to share a look inside our Melbourne HQ offices, some stats about Envato and a big thank you to the community.
Author Interview: DanaosC
Going to school in Greece, being “a disgusting and funny guy”, having speakers you really like, and watching anime. This week we meet Danaos Christopoulos (DanaosC) from VideoHive.
Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do for a living?
Hello, my name is Danaos Christopoulos, and I am a 16-year-old Motion Graphic Design student living in Rhodes, Greece, and I am currently self-learning.
I do accept freelance jobs when I have the chance, but the main source of income is from the Envato marketplaces. As a high school student, I am not able to work in some company or anything, so Envato is my best and only choice.

Final Image
Here is the final image that we’ll be creating!
Step 1
Open up an image of a person, try to select a photo of a head and torso only. My photo was black and white to begin with (http://www.sxc.hu/photo/462639), but if yours isn’t then go to image>adjustments>desaturate.
Step 2
Now create a new layer called ‘clothes and accessories’. Use your lasso tool to select the man’s waistcoat, tie and glasses, and then fill these areas with black. I chose to fill in the glasses totally with black to create sunglasses.

Vector sets are always great for enhancing your designs and saving you a lot of work producing original illustrations. However, it can be difficult to find quality vector files. Thankfully, we’ve compiled over 30 awesome vector designs that feature technology themed designs, such as laptops, pcs, iphones, cables, chargers, speakers and more! Most of these items are totally free, with the most expensive only costing a few dollars. We hope you enjoy them!
